Hi all,

First of all, I have not watched the show in over 20 years and had no
idea who the cast was.

I think this show was VERY poorly written with only one or two funny
segments.

The opening skit with Elton was just plain dumb, boring and not funny
at all.

Elton's monologue was poorly written and you could tell that Elton
seemed very nervous and uncomfortable.

The Knights of the Realm skit was really bad. Elton seemed to be much
more relaxed, but the only remotely funny part of that entire skit was
the comment at the end about Sting and the way he killed the dragon.
That got a laugh from me.

The Dr. Oz skit was really bad too. I did get a laugh when they were
using the gap in Elton's front teeth as part of the skit.

I thought Elton and Leon performing Hey Ahab was great. He had his
entire band with him and even backup singers. Elton seemed to be
really enjoying himself and was really in his element. I liked that
Davey was still using his Captain Fantastic Guitar.

Again, the Royal Wedding skit was HORRIBLE! It was just plain stupid
and not funny at all. Elton did seem to be very relaxed.

While not great, The Logo Silver Screen Skit gave me a few laughs with
Elton eating the popcorn and kissing his partner.

I thought the Western Saloon skit was great and the only good skit of
the entire show. Elton doing his Western Cowboy accent was hilarious.

Again, Elton and Leon performing Eight Hundred Dollar shoes was of
course great. Elton performing behind a Piano is where he belongs. I
couldn't believe how old Leon looked. I saw him at the Hollywood
Palladium with Elton for The Union show and he was so frail that Elton
had to take him by the hand and lead him back on stage for the final
bows.

Overall, I give the show a 'C' rating, and that is being generous. I
can't believe this show is still on the air with the extremely poor
writing and cast it has.

The show was so poor, that I actually turned it off after an hour and
went to bed. I just finished it a few minutes ago.

I would like to hear other comments. I did read one and the person
agreed that the show was bad, but I didn't think bringing up all the
Gayness was a bad thing. It's a big part of his public life and I
thought it was total appropriate.

It had a few funny moments, but for the most part it was cringe-worthy. EJ
was clearly nervous during his monologue, but the material was pretty good.
I hadn't realized how disconnected I was from SNL -- the only two regulars I
recognized were Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogan. The guy who did played the zoo
keeper was pretty funny, but the rest of them left me flat. The final
sketch, the western, was probably best in overall concept and execution, and
I loved EJ's voice in it. The Logo parody was terrible. I did chuckle at the
Knights of the Realm one, and was surprised by the punk song performance at
the end of the Royal Wedding sketch.

I'm really glad I DVR'd it so I could FF through the worst of it.

Did EJ get flustered or mess up during his second performance? It seemed to
me that things went a bit astray after the instrumental break. I thought
they were excellent songs to perform and they rocked. Sure, Leon was turned
down in the mix, and he's transfixed by his lyric sheet, but he can still
pound the ivories.

At least Leon had a singing part in the second song. I'm tired of them
billing it as "Elton John & Leon Russell" on TV shows and Russell just sits
there like a bump on a log playing the piano.
