Elton John’s annual Oscar viewing party to benefit the Elton John
AIDS
Foundation is a little more than a week away, and his interview with
Parade magazine is certain to help put a spotlight on the event. But
it’s not talk of his charitable work that will grab the attention,
but
his claim that Jesus was gay.

"I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who
understood human problems,” he told Parade. “On the cross, he forgave
the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and
forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay
woman in the Middle East — you're as good as dead."

That quote appears only in the online version of the interview, and
that’s also where you can find John’s take on being famous — he’s
over
it.

“Princess Diana, Gianni Versace, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, all
dead,” John said. “Two of them shot outside their houses. None of
this
would have happened if they hadn't been famous. Fame attracts
lunatics. I never had a bodyguard, ever, until Gianni died. I don’t
like celebrity anymore."

Either that or we'd get blasted with about 100 long posts stating why Elton
is wrong, being gay is wrong and possibly something to the effect that the
only good thing about Muslims is that they denounce being gay.

Personally, I don't get why Elton is even mentioning Jesus in relation to
his charity or why he thinks Jesus was gay. If he's trying to help his
charity I don't think this is going to work.

Hopefully the quote will make sense in the context of the complete
interview, not that Parade Magazine is known for cutting edge
intellectual journalism.

I thought the same thing Karen, geez, there would have been 100's of
posts from her by now.
Don't think this will help Elton either, but maybe this is what Jesus
means to him.

Another brilliant PR move by our favorite fruit. At least he didn't
say he was more popular than Jesus. Besides, I have it on good
authority that Jesus was a Transexual.

Indeed, Elton is my/our favorite fruit, and guess what? entitiled to
his opinion and freedom to speculate. Which is all we can do about
Jesus's
sexuality. (He was 40. single, and living with his mother).

Ah dear Brenda. i'm fairly sure she would have insisted that Elton was
not gay at all (denial) and get around to stating how she was
in love with him (motive). I'm sure she is dancing and singing in
heaven. She was similar to the many evengelicals that simply do not
understand human sexuality
beyond a procreation model.

He was actually 30. And he lived with his mother because he was a

Jesus was gods son, and when poor dad noticed about the spawn's
homosexuality, he threw him out of the pantheon to live
with the filthy humans that were - by divine claim - all gay. Which
enforces my thesis that god had screwed one to check out some hot
lesbian action and was extremely disappointed to see her pregnant
after that. When she had asked whether to abort or not, he'd said,
coldly, "Mariah, Carry!", which led to another misconception in
popular music.

That should about wrap the whole thing up, part II will see Jesass
live through his wild youth with the disciples.

Ahhh, JackMeOff-I see you're still around. It's been a long time since my
last post, but this thread has brought me out of the "woodworks", (and not
closet either, as I'm married now, LOL). Jesus was between the age of
30-32, and yes-he was on the road alot, with his ministry, mostly traveled
by foot and with his disciples. Back in the day-they certainly didn't stay
in the local Super 8, usually in the home of friends and strangers, no money
between them. And stayed with mom on occasion....

I do remember the Brenda days from the mid 90's, she had her moments and she
brought out many heated discussions in here. It wasn't uncommon to see a
thread 25 posts long, mostly between her and another poster. Who knows-I
hope to see her in Heaven...(Maybe she'll have an I'm Brenda sign on her,
LOL).

After this statement, I'm disappointed in Elton, even to the point of
jumping ship...He could lose a huge following, but then again-he's said he's
over fame! And the reason you I ask I like(d?) Elton? Beautiful piano
playing of all types of music, very gifted, and mostly for the concerts. He
is one artist, no matter what the age, can go and see a good clean show, no
foul language, and pull music from 25 albums plus-and make everyone happy.
And me-a veteran of 7 EJ concerts, the most recent Norfolk, VA. Favorite
concert tune "All the young girls love Alice".

Sign me as "The one Hanging onto the flagpole" (Titantic)......

Elton had kind words about Jesus, probably because he knows Jesus is
powerful with all of his healing and miracles. I think Elton is just
hoping Jesus is homosexual to make him feel better. Jesus defined
homosexuality as a mistake (sin). However, being a Christian, and
having eternal life is not about rules but it is about asking Jesus to
be Savior. That is why there is a song called "Just As I Am". We ask
for salvation right where we are.

We can try to do better, with less mistakes. But the fact is that we
all make mistakes and it is asking for salvation that saves us and not
what we do. According to the Bible, we are saved by grace and not
works.

Brenda, aaah the memories ...
Whilst going for a solitary walk the first day back, I heard loud rock
n'roll music coming from the old Columbia Studios in Hollywood.
Two businessmen, inside the compound, invited me in to Elton John's
rehearsals.
Although I was not an Elton John fan, his music and lyrics seemed so
relevant that I began to start thinking for myself again.
My friend, Christine, later came over and also sat in on the
rehearsals for an hour or so.

The following day I met Elton's percussionist, Ray Cooper, who invited
me back to their next rehearsals, due to begin on September 18th.

Needing time to think, I accepted Ray's kind offer, and visited Elton
John's rehearsals, but kept myself out of the way most of the time.
Just observing and enjoying the music, which made me want to dance,
but dancing was forbidden by the cult.

"All this talk of Jesus coming back to see us, couldn't fool
us" (Elton)

On one occasion at the studios, I met a guy who believed in Jesus. In
the course of one of our conversations I told him about my new church
and the messiah being on earth. (something we were also forbidden to
do.)
We argued about it outside Stage 6, but stopped abruptly when we saw
Elton listening. He had overheard it all, but just smiled warmly at me.
